BioBased Tile

The following product is a member of Armstrong's BioBased Tile collection that focuses on LEED certification and staying green. The BioBased tile is made of renewable materials and comes in 28 commercially adaptable colors. The tiles are made of BioStride which according to the Armstrong website, "is made with rapidly renewable, US-grown plant ingredients." Since it is made for commercial use the flooring can withstand more abuse than typical residential flooring.

The flooring not only meets the following accreditations but also it reduces use of environmentally damaging materials and reuses about 10% of recycled products; the VOC emissions from the tile's creation are also very low.
  • EQ Credit 4.3 - Low-emitting Materials
  • MR Credit 4.0 - Recycled Content
  • MR Credit 5.0 - Regional Materials - depends on project location
  • MR Credit 6.0 - Rapidly Renewable Resources

The tile is more affordable than most LEED certified tiles and the availability depends on the demand for the tiles at the time as well as the quantity needed. The tiles are 12" x 12" x 1/8"
